What can Sóller offer you

Port de Sóller, located about two kilometers from Sóller, is the largest natural harbor on the north coast of Mallorca and throughout history has served as shelter for fishermen, merchants and all types of sailors.

The history of Port de Sóller, linked to the citrus trade since the 14th century, saw during the 18th century the time of the most economic and commercial splendor for the export of local products. In the nineteenth century, it was the strategic point between Mallorca and the continent where merchant ships and passenger ships were calling, which transported the numerous Mallorcan people who emigrated in search of a better future.

To the right of Port de Sóller we find the District of Santa Catalina where formerly the fishermen of the port lived and kept their boats. With the typical aspect of a seafaring town, with small huts located on very steep cobbled streets and named winds, Santa Catalina is the perfect place to walk and enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the neighborhood.

The steep streets of the neighborhood lead to the hill of Port de Sóller where we find the Santa Catalina Oratory, dating from the 13th century and rebuilt in 1550, and its viewpoint, an ideal place to enjoy spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea. At the end of the hill we also find the Sa Creu Lighthouse, built in 1864.

Although formerly the fishermen of the Santa Catalina neighborhood kept their boats where the pedestrian promenade of the Calle de la Marina is now located, now the fishing and recreational vessels are moored to the marina of Port de Sóller located just in front of Santa Catalina.
