What can Sóller offer you
scroll down

In the shadow of the Biniaraix Ravine, we find a village of the same name that belongs to two municipalities, Sóller and Fornalutx. With green landscapes all year round and a unique beauty, Biniaraix is known throughout the island as a quiet town linked to the production of oranges.

Located 2 kilometers from Sóller at the foot of the mountains of our valley, Biniaraix is located at a considerable height which gives it the charm of a mountain village in the Sierra de Tramuntana: stone huts, narrow alleys and steep alleys coasts... Everything in Biniaraix helps create its unique beauty that makes its landscapes idyllic.

The historical complex formed by the urban center of Biniaraix and its church are declared of Cultural Interest by the Insular Council of Mallorca, which was built at the end of the 16th century and presents a bell tower with white tile coverage. Also, noteworthy are the houses of possession of Cas Don and Can Ribera and the old public pools.

Traditionally, the main activity of the area was agriculture, with orchard, vine and olive crops, provided with abundant water by the torrent of small waterfalls that runs at the bottom of the Biniaraix Ravine. Its agriculture lived an expansive time in the nineteenth century thanks to the increase in citrus production. Like Soller, Biniaraix saw how his children emigrated to European cities, especially in southern France, where they established fruit shops.

From Biniaraix there's a stone path that, through the Biniaraix Ravine, led to the Lluc sanctuary. You need to be in good physical shape to be able to ascend the 1,932 steps of the endless stairs that connect the town with the Cases de l'Ofre, a vast possession of the Muslim era located an hour walking from Biniaraix. During several sections of the climb along the cobbled stairs we can see the Puig de L'Ofre (1,091), a perfectly conical peak, similar to a volcano.
