Sa Capelleta Vella

What can Sóller offer you
scroll down

About three kilometers from Sóller we find a tiny temple surrounded by nature, with an architecture inspired by Gaudí and an interior that evokes a cave: Sa Capelleta is a magical place that you have to visit during your stay in our valley.

Following the GR-221 route between Sóller and Fornalutx, the walker will arrive at this hidden place in Sóller just 20 minutes after starting the route. The road is on the rise and can raise a little the difficulty of the route but nevertheless this is suitable for all audiences. In addition, when arriving at our destination we will be able to observe magnificent views of the town of Sóller and the whole valley.

Blessed on June 17, 1917, the "Sanctuary of Santa Maria de l'Olivar des Fenàs" or "Sa Capelleta" is a modernist building constructed of cut and overlapping stones and whose interior evokes the grotto of "Mare de Déu de Lourdes. "

The natural light that enters through the openings and windows of the temple is combined with the statues of the "Immaculate" and "Santa Bernadeta" and the stalactites to give a unique look inside.

This unique building is located next to the monastery of "Santuari de Santa Maria de l'Olivar des Fenàs" built between 1943 and 1944 thanks to the donations of some wealthy Sollerenses and inhabited and cared for by the regular Augustinian canons of San Agustín.
