Built in the early twentieth century to facilitate trade between Vall de Sóller, Palma and the rest of the island, the Tren de Sóller is a jewel of the past that allows you to transport you to another time during a journey with thirteen tunnels, several bridges and infinities curves through the Serra de Tramuntana (Cultural Landscape World Heritage by UNESCO since 2011).

The geographical isolation of Sóller has marked the history of Sóller but the train reverses this situation by connecting Sóller with Palma: the works to build the tracks through which the train loaded with people and goods would pass began in 1907 and did not finish until 1912. Finally, on April 16, 1912, the Tren de Sóller was officially inaugurated.

Nowadays, the Tren de Sóller is an attraction more of the town, making large and small enjoy the experience of boarding a train with wagons and locomotives identical to the original and taken care of down to the smallest detail, transporting them to the past and making them Enjoy the most of the views of the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana.

The travelers that take the Tren de Sóller arrive at the railway station of Sóller located next to the Plaza de España, an architectural complex that dates from the early twentieth and late s. XIX, respectively. You can either transfer to the electric tram that goes to the Port de Sóller and is in the old fortified possession of Can Mayol, built in 1606, or go to the nearby Plaça de la Constitució, the nerve center of Sóller and the place ideal to start a tour through the streets and the history of Sóller.
