Get on a 1912 train!

What can Sóller offer you
scroll down

Built in the early twentieth century to facilitate trade between Vall de Sóller, Palma and the rest of the island, the Soller Train is a jewel of the past that allows you to transport yourself to another time during a journey with thirteen tunnels, several bridges and infinities curves through the Serra de Tramuntana (UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape since 2011).

The geographic isolation has marked the history of Sóller but the train reversed this situation by connecting Sóller with Palma: the works to build the tracks that would take the train loaded with people and goods began in 1907 and didn't end until 1912. Finally, on April 16, 1912, the Soller Train was officially inaugurated.

Today, the Soller Train is another attraction of the town, making young and old enjoy the experience of getting on a train with wagons and locomotives identical to the original ones and taken care of to the smallest detail, transporting them to the past and making them fully enjoy the views of the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana.

Travellers who take the Sóller Train arrive at the Sóller train station located next to the Plaza de España, an architectural complex dating from the beginning of the XX and the end of the s. XIX, respectively. You can either transfer to the electric tram that goes to the Port de Sóller and is in the old fortified possession of Can Mayol, built in 1606, or go to the nearby Plaça de la Constitució, the nerve center of Sóller and the place Ideal to start a tour by the streets and the history of Sóller.
